After a few quiet days of lazing about the ship, we arrived in New Zealand yesterday. We spent the day scenic cruising through he Fiordland National Park – a UNESCO World Heritage Site, 280 miles along the South Island coast.
Its just stunning to see – snow capped mountains, waterfalls and you can see where glaciers used to be. It was almost as cold as Alaska! We were up early before sunrise to enter Milford Sound first, then two other sounds over the day.
Not many of us were out that early braving the cold.
It was freezing cold up on deck. Eventually the sunlight broke through.
Its really beautiful, lots of waterfalls, greenery, snow capped mountains and clean air.
The water was very calm once we were inside. Another cruise ship had been unable to enter the fjords the day before as it was too rough so we were lucky to get in.
That is all the photos I can get up at the minute, will try and post again later today while we have a bit faster internet on board.
