Mykonos – wow! Its every bit as beautiful as it looks and its the cleanest place we’ve been so far beside Barcelona. We spent our day in Mykonos walking about…
We took a short shuttle bus trip from the port to the edge of town, its so dry here and the ground is just all rock.
Walked along the beach into town…
Lots of little churches – small enough to fit in our lounge room…
The streets are shared with cars, bikes and pedestrians – most are hardly as wide as a typical footpath back home.
In the shopping area…
Lovely cobblestone verandah.
Houses and shops all together, we decided to climb up the hill to the windmill that overlooks the town…
Lots of lovely cafes…
Getting closer to the top of the hill now…
… and the view was worth the climb!
You can see the Royal Princess on the right. We’ve walked from that breakwater on the right, through the city centre and up to the hill, now we’re going to walk down to the famous four windmills which are on the beach just out of the left side of the picture.
A little town square outside a church.
The colours of the cafes look really bright and cheery against all the white.
An olive tree, growing in a just a few inches of gravel.
These buildings are mostly cafes and restaurants so we walked back along the beach – time for a coffee!
Walking through the restaurants on the beachfront…
… we met Petros, the island pelican...
… got waylaid by a bit more shopping!
Then we stopped here for a coffee..
.. and this was the view from our table..
After a nice break, a chat with some other Aussie tourists and a bit more looking through the streets we started walking back to port. This church is the smallest one yet – would fit in our kitchen!
… a photo from the doorway…
a bit more walking along the beach..
.. back to the ship after another wonderful day..
We spent the evening out on deck just soaking up the amazing views till the sun went down…
