We kept out last day in Rome free so we could just walk around and visit places on our own. Just walking around the streets is wonderful. We visited several museums and art galleries and the war memorial.

From our first day here we knew we had to visit this building after seeing it on our bus tour of the city sights. It is huge and just so impressive. It is actually the war memorial – Allara della Patria, and after admiring it from the outside and visiting the museum inside, we were told that we could go up to the top – well, of course, we did just that – the views are amazing!
After a long while up top soaking in the views of Rome, we headed back to the little cafe near our hotel for one last gelato and coffee.
It’s been an incredible five weeks – better than we could have ever imagined. We’d do it all over again in a heartbeat!
