Our flight over went fairly well. Our stop in Hong Kong was meant to be an hour but we had no time to even go to the loo as the next plane was boarding as we landed so it was a quick jog straight through the airport and straight back into a plane seat for another 13 hours.
Apart from me getting pulled out of every security line for a check (forgot I had a bottle of water in my bag – was holding my passport in my hand – random – photo scanner didn’t recognise me) it went well!
Our hotel is right in the shopping district, close to everything. We went for a bit of a walk early. Most of the shops here open at 10am, the hotels check in time is 4pm. So at 9am on a Saturday morning it was very quiet out.
… Tony needed a coffee to start the day…
The forecast for tomorrow is rain and todays forecast was only 20% chance of rain, so we decided to go to Grouse Mountain today. When we arrived at the bottom of the mountain is was just light rain – visibility wasn’t very good on the way up.
… and it felt like the temperature dropped a LOT by the time we reached the top.
The shop selling jackets was doing a roaring trade! So we parted with some cash, rugged up and headed off to check out the sights.
There was a fun run on today to and so there were hundreds of runners in shorts and crop tops out running in the rain.
After we saw the bears to rain started to get heavier and you really couldn’t see much of anything at all.
So we came back into town on the bus – our elderly driver had a blonde elvis hairstyle which was pretty interesting!
We went down to the harbour area and had a look around. Lots of seaplanes offering rides…
There are bikes for hire everywhere – it seems to be a very bike friendly city.
You can even strap your bike to the front of the buses.
The streets are very clean and tidy, dare I say even the few homeless people we saw were tidy – not loads of ‘stuff’ all over the place like you might see in Sydney. Flowerpots and hanging plants are everywhere.
It started raining again so we had a look inside a few shops – this shop had mannequins that could be part of our new TAFE campaign lol! Every one in the store was leaping and jumping about
This is the Cannabis Co store for your medical pot needs!
We also went into the supermarket here and the prices of food here is very reasonable, especially fresh fruit and veggies. I bought a plate of cut up fruit for $2.99, bananas 2 for $1.60, pkt potato chips $1.60, a huge baked potato for lunch for $4.80, cappachino $3.20.
So we’ve finished lunch and its stopped raining outside. We’re going go back out and visit Gastown which is a few blocks from from where we’re staying.
